When COVID swept the world, countless bars fell silent—neon signs flickered out, chairs gathered dust, and windows were shuttered tight. Amid the chaos, we saw a spark of opportunity. Fueled by determination and sheer will, we rolled up our sleeves and dove headfirst into renovating what would eventually become the heart and soul of our community, learning every trick of the trade as we went.

We purchased a double-unit bar tucked into Khao Noi, heart of Darkside, and recruited an incredibly talented manager—only to have her call days after we transferred the money to say she was pregnant! Talk about bad timing. We decided to give it a go with my wife Elsa, and spent the first years fumbling through bartending 101, figuring things out the hard way and learning lessons you can’t Google.

Undeterred, we dove into every aspect of running the bar ourselves, surviving through with nothing but grit and hard work. Just when we thought we had the hang of it, life surprised us again—my wife Elsa told me she was pregnant! I might have to take some responsibility for that one...

We decided to rethink our approach and the entire concept, approaching it from the simple things. Armed with hard-won lessons and a rock ’n’ roll spirit, we rebranded in September 2024 and launched a full-scale renovation to apply everything we’d learned. The result? Studio 69.

The bar quickly rose to fame and our guests continue to praise the atmosphere. Locals began to flock to our cozy, non-smoking lounge that transforms into a party den with neon highlights after every sunset. We decorated the bar with cheeky details hidden around every corner. We curated an amazing playlist of banger after banger that pulse through the 360 degree speakers, setting the stage for nights that feel legendary.

Our event roster has become the stuff of local legend: high stakes killer pool tournaments that take you through a rollercoaster of emotions, costume parties that unleash your wild side, Glow-in-the-Dark full-moon raves that light up the night, the most talented local bands showing off their skills, and all the other fun that keeps you guessing. We don’t follow trends—we spark them. Other bars try to copy us, but we lead the way.

As our family and friends grow, so does our need for space. Our modest front parking space is constantly jam-packed, although you can still line up along the side street, and pro tip: there’s plenty more parking behind the bar!

Where other bars fade into routine and stagnation, Studio 69 thrives. Your energy, your stories, and your unwavering support are the heartbeat of this place. Thank you for being part of our wild ride—here’s to nights that we barely remember!
